Baseball season has officially ended now for MSHS! We got beat in the first game of the district tournament on Monday night to end the season. I'm sorry, but I can't say that I was disappointed.....the season has not been a good one and we have spent way too many nights at the ballpark. It has pretty much consumed our lives since the last week of March. We even survived thru it with a broken washer and several other issues.
Last night was SO nice! I got home from work and Emily had cooked dinner, complete with strawberry shortcake for dessert. Wow! That was so nice! And then I didn't have anywhere I HAD to go. So, I planted some bell peppers in containers out on my deck. I have red, green, yellow and orange and a jalepeno pepper plant. I had planted a Roma tomato and a cherry tomato plant a few weeks ago. I'm thinking about buying some herbs to grow out there too!
I'm looking forward to the summer and the kids being out of school. They are ready. Emily will be working about 20 hours a week as a summer intern at the church and Ben is going to work around 10 hours a week on the golf course at the country club helping weed eat. I think I need to find Erica a job too!!! Actually, she will be working some in the pro shop for my mom. My mom & dad run the pro shop so they let the kids work for them whenever they want. I'm hoping they will spend lots of time at the pool swimming or on the course play golf. We pay too much money a year not to take advantage of it big time in the summer!
This summer is going to be really busy for me at work too! We are implementing a new system and my boss is going to have to be out of the office because her daughter is having surgery in Minnesota. This is a very serious surgery and she will be gone for several weeks. Please pray that it goes well. Her daughter is only in her early 20's and just got married last summer. She will be having her pancreas removed and some other procedures that go along with that.
We hope to get a trip in sometime this summer to CedarPoint amusement park in Sandusky, OH. They have some of the best roller coasters in the world and the kids have been wanting to go for the last couple of years. It's close to an 8 hour drive and we only have a small car now so I'm not real sure how that's going to work!
What are your plans for the summer???

Happy Mother's Day!
It's been a really good day. We spent the day at my Mom & Dad's house. We took hamburgers and hot dogs down there to grill since she has more room and her grill is under the deck and out of the cold rainy weather. Ben grilled for us and Richard made a Strawberry Delight that was DELICIOUS!!! My sister and her family were there as well. After we ate I sat down in a chair watching TV with Erica and we both crashed. We slept on and off for a long time. Anyway....it was a very good day. I praise the Lord for a wonderful Christian mother!!! Thanks Mom for all you've done for me in my lifetime. I only pray I can be somewhere near the mother you are! I love you!
Happy Mother's Day to all my friends too!!! I praise God for your friendship! I love you!

It's been a LONG week.......
and it's not over yet! I'm glad it's Friday but......I'm really busy at work today and tonight Erica wants me to take her and 2 of her friends to the Barbeque Festival over here in O'boro. Ben has a baseball game at Logan Co so Richard is probably going to that game which means I may have to drive to the 'ville and get them and bring them back! Not looking forward to this at all but I told her I would do it. I feel bad that I haven't spent much time with her at all because of all the baseball games. Tomorrow morning, bright and early, is the benefit golf scramble for Devin Dearth at Twin Oaks. Richard wants me to help cook some burgers to sell. And we still need to purchase the burgers, etc. that we plan to sell! After the scramble is over we are heading to BG to pack up all of Emily's stuff to move her home for the summer. While we are there Emily wants us to go to her church softball game so we probably, more than likely, won't be home until late tomorrow night. THEN, Sunday is Mother's Day! I need to do something for my mother and I don't have any ideas YET! Need to talk with sister to see if she has any ideas.
So, what are your big plans for the weekend?!

Today.
It's been a pretty good day other than the fact that I'm still at work and it's 7:36pm! And I will probably be here for another 2+ hours. I just hate sitting here waiting on processes to run so I can proceed with what I need to do......drives me crazy. One month when I was here late I watched 3 episodes of Grey's Anatomy. I guess I could catch up on GA now. Maybe I'll do that when I finish here.
Praises:
Richard just called to tell me that the church voted to hire Emily as one of the two summer interns. She will be SO excited! Jennifer England is the other intern. Emily will be working about 20 hours per week. I think this is the perfect job for her.
Emily will finish her last final on Friday and we go to pack her up on Saturday. It just blows my mind that her freshman year of college is almost over! Boy does time fly! I will be glad to have her home for the summer.
Devin Dearth is making wonderful progress in China in the short time he has been there....like 6 or 7 days. Richard and Chris Dennis are at Green River Chapel as I type waiting for a video chat with Devin and Stacey in China. Isn't technology wonderful!?!
Prayer requests:
Pray that we all adjust to Emily being back at home. Especially Emily & Erica....they haven't been getting along very well when they are together. I'm not sure why, but I don't like it AT ALL.

Monday, Monday.....
Today has not been such a bad Monday afterall. I typically don't like Mondays at all but today has been GORGEOUS despite having to work indoors. I did go out to lunch at PennStation with one of my bestest friends here at work. We had a good lunch but had to go back to work......blah. Anyway, the weekend was really great. On Saturday I worked in the yard, on the deck, etc. cleaning up from winter and planting flowers. It is starting to look so much better. Then we went to my Mom & Dad's house to watch the Derby. Mom had fixed all kinds of stuff to eat, it was delicious. I crashed on the loveseat after eating and watching the Derby. I slept there for awhile and then we went home and I think I went to the bed around 9:30 which is unheard of for me! I was wiped out!
Sunday was a wonderful day at church and we went to eat with several friends afterwards and had a fun time. Late Sunday afternoon Richard and I drove the truck to Owensboro to buy a new washing machine. We had done our research on which ones were the best and I called all the close Sears stores to find out if there were any of our choices that were actually in stock that we could take with us. We found one in Owensboro and I NOW HAVE A WASHER!!! Yippee!!! We so take for granted our washers and dryers. It was not a very fun time spending hours at the laundromat washing clothes! Thank you Lord for my new washer!
Tonight we are back to the ballpark! We play Butler Co and I told Ben as I left the house this morning that he needed to hit a homerun tonight so his Dad could see it! He told me he would try his best........that's all a momma can ask, right?!?!?!?
Devin Dearth
Here is the link to CaringBridge where you can keep up with Devin's progress and also leave messages for Devin & Stacey while they are in Tianjin China...... http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/devindearth

HOMERUN!!!!!!!
Ben hit a 3-run homerun last night at Whitesville Trinity! It was AWESOME! Not only was it over the fence, but it went over a dogwood tree planted just on the other side of the fence. I'm so glad I was there to see it and I was actually watching him bat when he hit it! Mel and I had a great time jumping and screaming over that one. We were so tired toward the end of the game that she was calling it the 'ball fark!' We followed the buses home and they took us thru God's Country out in the middle of nowhere and it seemed to take us forever to get home! But we made it home safely and now I'm trying to recover from the late night and ALLERGIES! My eyes are burning and running and I have congestion and a headache..........TGIF!
On another note.....we are going to have to purchase a new washing machine. I really need to try to go looking today but not sure if I'll have time to do that and work. I'm still at home even though it's almost 9am. Going to try to get ready now! Have a great day!

Used by God
"If you are going to be used by God, He will take you through a multitude of experiences that are not meant for you at all, they are meant to make you useful in His hands, and to enable you to understand what transpires in other souls so that you will never be surprised at what you come across." -Oswald Chambers
